Biography Felicia Konrad Cosmic Wash Over together with Caroline Leander, Mats Persson, David Carlsson, Robin Knutsson, Peter Tegnér.

End of summer 2009, Mats Persson recorded a session when Caroline Leander and I improvised over some of the first sketches of the material that now is on the album Felicia Konrad Cosmic Wash Over. One of the songs just happened instantly on the first take.
And this song and that first take is on the record. It is Growing in Heart.

That has been a guideline for our working process in both recording our first cd and in whole for our approach to making music together. Giving space to let it grow from almost nothing.

CD: Mostly I and Caroline prepared the material, I did the sketch with melody, text and some chords, and Caroline created and clearified the structure of the music with me sitting singing beside her at the grand piano, both working, taking impulses in the moment. Then we presented the music to David, Robin and Mats and a new creative transformation started. We didn’t rehearse very much, but it was intense and fun when we did. Before the last recording session we realized that we needed some guitar on one of the songs, Some Nights and Peter Tegnér stepped in and it felt like it was as natural as the weather for us to land in that song together with him. Suddenly there was an instrumental intro flowing in the air and it was obvious that more songs needed him and his guitar.

Cosmic Wash Over was recorded the 4th and 5th october 2010, the 13th of february and the 16-17th of may 2011. During the mixing in june and august we added some of the back up vocals, and Petter Lindgård came and played trumpet on Falling Right Through, and that was the missing piece finally found for that song. David Carlsson also added extremly beautiful bass phrases and bass beats for the soundart piece Love is an Ocean that is based on an group improvisation in may the 17th. And Mats made magic with very tasty electronica and sound designs.

In march 2011, we gave a concert at Victoria teatern, Malmö, Sweden, the place where the first session and the song Growing in Heart happened. We got wonderful response from the audience on about 60 persons and had a great time.

This has been a happy and sincere process opening possibillities for the continuting work with this music and coming music.

Biography Felicia Konrad

I am a singer and a voiceperformer. I write songs and work with original material, solo or in collaborations. Since 1998 I have freelanced with my music and my voiceperformances in Sweden. 1998 I did my first voiceperformance 3xJesus and ever since I have created my own pieces and showed them mostly in art exhibitions and in the art context.

During 1999-2007 I had a band called Konradband, alternative jazz together with a buch of great musicians and composers, Karin Johansson, Stefan Pettersson and Ebba Westerberg. 2003 we released the cd So Drop it in (Imogena).
Here are some extract from reviews on swedish!

Singer /songwriter. Mest gillar jag de konstlösa spåren MuteDream, So drop it in, The fiirst Morningbird.”

(GP, Ulf Johanson)

(Hallands Posten, Martin Erlandsson)

Felicia Konrad Biography before 1998 and sideprojects

Before 1998 I worked with acting, directing and writing. For example I was working as an assistant director for one of the most famous film directors in Sweden, Bo Widerberg.
I also was one of the initiators and the first project leader to “Poesifestivalen i Härnösand”, which lasted from 1999-2008. Many poets from whole Sweden has been performing or read their poetry live on the beautiful library “Sambiblioteket”. I took part with voiceperformance and workshops in voice during the years.

I was 28 years old when I discovered my own voice and my intrest for the human voice, during my studies of method acting in New York. On a Roy Heart course in South of France I meet a young singer, Annie Preloux, who took me aside the second day there and said, I heard something today, are you going to work? Are you going to be a singer? And she looked me in the eyes with total straightness. I felt completly naked. I said yes. Yes I am going to work.

Annie, the work is endless. But I am on the track, grateful.
